Roof repairs in Hythe, Folkestone and Kent

From a slipped tile to storm damage and structural problems, repaired properly and left tidy.

Roof repair in progress on a house in Hythe

We understand how important it is to keep your roof in excellent condition. Roof damage can happen unexpectedly, whether from harsh weather, wear and tear, or other unforeseen issues.

That is why our team is on hand to provide reliable and safe roof repair services. We have extensive experience in diagnosing and fixing a wide range of roofing problems, from minor leaks to significant structural damage.

Every repair starts with a proper look at the whole roof rather than only the spot where the water appeared, because on this coast the elevation that is failing is often not the one showing the damage. You get a clear, no obligation quote before any work begins.

Signs your roof needs looking at

Most roof problems are visible long before water comes through a ceiling. Caught at that stage a repair is usually a morning's work rather than a scaffold and a fortnight.

  • Water marks or a brown ring on an upstairs ceiling, which often appears some distance from the actual leak
  • Tiles that have slipped out of line, or gaps you can see from the pavement
  • Grit from the tiles collecting in the gutters or on the drive
  • Daylight visible through the roof when you are up in the loft
  • Damp, musty air or wet insulation in the loft after heavy rain
  • Lead flashing around a chimney that has lifted, cracked or pulled away
  • A ridge line that dips or looks uneven along its length

Why we look at the whole roof, not just the wet patch

Water almost never comes in directly above the stain it makes. It runs along a batten, down a rafter and drops where the timber ends, which can be several metres from where it got in.

On this coast there is a second reason. Britain's prevailing wind is south westerly, so the seaward slopes take salt and driven rain far harder than the sheltered ones. A roof can look sound from the road and be failing on the elevation you cannot see. Patching where the water appeared inside, and ignoring the slope that is actually failing, is the commonest way a repair ends up being done twice.

What a repair usually involves

We start with an inspection, from a ladder or with the drone where the height or the pitch makes that safer and quicker. You are told what we found and what it will cost before anything starts.

Small jobs, a few slipped tiles or a length of failed flashing, are usually done in a single visit. Anything involving the structure underneath, or work high enough to need scaffolding, is quoted with that included, so the price you are given is the price of the job.
