What we collect through this website, why, and what happens to it.

Who we are
We are a roofing and general building firm based in Hythe, Kent. For data protection purposes we are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at info@hytheandfolkestoneroofers.com, on 07984 137 959, or by post at the address above.
What we collect
Only what you type into the enquiry form: your name, phone number, email address, the postcode of the property, and whatever you tell us about the roof. We ask for all of it because we cannot quote for work without knowing where it is and how to reach you.
We do not ask for and have no use for payment details, dates of birth, or any of the special category data the UK GDPR treats separately, such as health or ethnicity. Please do not send those through the form.
What we do with it
We use it to answer your enquiry, arrange to come and look at the job, and send you a quote. That is the only thing we use it for. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone for marketing, and we will not add you to a mailing list.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have asked us to quote for work, and replying to you is the obvious and expected use of the details you sent.
Who else sees it
The form is delivered by Web3Forms, which emails it straight to us and does not use it for anything else. The website itself is hosted by Vercel, whose servers keep short-lived technical logs of requests, such as IP addresses, so the site can be run and kept secure. Nobody else receives your enquiry.
Web3Forms and Vercel may handle this information on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires for that transfer.
Cookies and analytics
This website sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies at all. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no embedded third-party content on any page. Your browser may store nothing more than what is needed to display the site. The cookie policy says the same thing in more detail, and will be updated if that ever changes.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted within twelve months. Where we carry out work, we keep the job record for six years, which is the period we may need it for tax, insurance and any question about the work itself.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it. Email info@hytheandfolkestoneroofers.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Any change that affects what we do with details you have already sent us will be told to you directly.
