On the Marsh there is nothing between a roof and the weather. Wind crossing flat open ground arrives at full strength, and on a low building it does something specific: it lifts. Pressure differences over a shallow roof try to peel the covering upwards from the edges rather than push it down.

So the fixing specification matters more in Dymchurch than almost anywhere we work. Mechanically fixed ridges and verges, correct clip patterns and properly detailed edges are the difference between a roof that shrugs off a gale and one that loses a strip of tiles in it.
